Here's a note from TJ Johnson about this effort:
The Sustainable South Sound Urban Agriculture Program recently obtained permission to develop a new community garden in Northeast Olympia on a piece of land that was formerly part of a certified organic farm. Our vision is to develop a sustainable organic garden in the heart of a dense urban neighborhood. The goal of this meeting is to discuss the vision, make preliminary plans for the growing season, and solidify personal and organizational commitments to the project.

Community Mobility Workshop
Monday, April 13, 7 to 9 pm
place TBD
The City of Olympia formed an Ad-Hoc Transportation Advisory Committee (ATAC) last October to work on developing a Transportation Mobility Strategy for the City. This group will be sharing information on community mobility planning and soliciting community feedback at this workshop. More information about the ATAC can be found at ATAC Resources.

Folks from neighborhoods across the City will come together at this meeting to share ideas, learn about community issues and projects and reach out to each other for help to address issues of common concern. One of the topics at this meeting will be graffiti busting strategies. Everyone is welcome at and encouraged to attend these meetings.  Peter Guttchen currently serves as the Coalition's chair. The Coalition is about to launch its new website soon, but you are welcome to visit it now at Olympia CNA.

Spring plant sale, Love Your School Yard Day and SF Street Sidewalk Celebration
Saturday, May 2, 9am to noon
Bethel and SF Streets
NENA is partnering with the Roosevelt Garden Group and the City of Olympia to celebrate the completion of the SF Street sidewalk and all of the improvements that have made Roosevelt School and our neighborhood more beautiful and active-friendly. This event will include a plant sale to raise funds for the Roosevelt Garden Group, a work party to clean up the school grounds, neighborhood tours, and more! Check out the Roosevelt Garden Group; their projects include an effort they are organizing with GRUB to have students grow organic food for the Thurston County Food Bank.
NENA Board Meeting
The next meeting of the NENA board will be held on Wednesday, March 18 from 7 to 9 pm in the Roosevelt music room.
Our meetings occur on the third Wednesday of most months. Upcoming meetings will be held on April 15 and May 20 in the Roosevelt music room. Join us to share your thoughts, concerns, or ideas for our neighborhood!
The NENA Board needs your help to keep going! For several years now, we have operated with a skeleton crew, yet have still accomplished amazing things to put our neighborhood on the map as a great place to live and grow. Will you be part of the next wave? We hope so! Check out these job descriptions to see where you can invest your talents and interests to best serve your community. Thank you!
We won a 2009 Neighborhood Association Matching Grant from the City of Olympia to build a community kiosk and welcome sign at the corner of Bethel and San Francisco! We will be getting the word out this spring to recruit a few good builders.
